Between 17:00 and 17:30, your evening kicks off with a scenic ride. Historically, water puppetry began when villagers waded into flooded rice fields to entertain one another. Consequently, the art form carries the soul of Vietnam’s agricultural roots. By traveling via cyclo, you can soak in the city’s evening atmosphere before arriving at the theater for the main event.

A Masterclass in Puppetry and Music

From 17:30 to 19:30, you will experience the Hanoi water puppet show firsthand. Inside the theater, the stage is actually a pool of water where puppeteers stand waist-deep. Hidden by a screen, these artisans skillfully maneuver lacquered wooden puppets using bamboo poles. As a result, the puppets appear to dance and glide effortlessly across the water’s surface.

Furthermore, the visual spectacle is enhanced by a traditional Vietnamese orchestra. While the musicians play, performers sing soulful songs that narrate the legendary stories being acted out on stage.

A Culinary Finale

At 19:30 to 20:00, once the performance concludes, your evening continues with a touch of luxury. At the finale, we will transfer you by private vehicle to one of Hanoi’s many superb Vietnamese restaurants. Here, you will enjoy a gourmet dinner, providing the perfect opportunity to reflect on the night’s cultural discoveries.
