HANOI, VIETNAM
An eclectic mix of East and West, Hanoi is a city of surprising charm. The cultural heart of Vietnam, the
city still twinkles with traces of centuries past and changing cultures and dynasties. Its French heritage is
clearly visible in its many colonial buildings and tree-lined boulevards, while Chinese influence is evident
in the city’s temples and gardens, and a modern café culture also flourishes
HALF DAY HANOI LANDMARKS WITH CYCLO
Enjoy a brief orientation of Hanoi, its tree-lined streets resplendent with French colonial architecture,
including the exquisite Opera House; and the legendary lake of the Restored Sword.
Continue to the Temple of Literature, a serene
retreat from the busy streets outside. It is known as
the first national university in Vietnam. Today, the
Temple of Literature stands as a living testament to
Vietnam’s scholarly tradition and cultural heritage. It
continues to attract visitors from around the world
who come to admire its architectural beauty and
explore its tranquil gardens.
Then head to the Museum of Ethnology (closed on
Mondays) for an insight into the 54 ethnic groups of
Vietnam. Browse the traditional costumes on display
which represent each of the ethnic groups. Chance to
explore the outdoor display area that exhibits a
variety of ethnic homes as full-scale replicas.

Cap off the trip with a cyclo ride through the labyrinthine alleyways of the Ha Noi Old Quarters. This
oldest continuously developed area of Hanoi was once an important center of commerce where goods were
sold on the street name of a particular guild. Stop at a roadside coffee shop, mingle with the locals and
enjoy the daily life passing by.
