Nestled amidst the lush rainforests of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Viernam, Tu Lan Cave System beckons adventurers with its hidden wonders and untouched beauty. Once a filming location for the Hollywood blockbuster “Kong: Skull Island,” this cave system unveils a captivating world of stalactites, underground rivers, and serene emerald pools.

 

FULL DAY TU LAN EXPERIENCE

Meet your guide at your Phong Nha hotel at 7:00 am for a scenic drive to the Tan Hoa village inhabited by ethnic minorities. After a safety briefing and gear check, embark on a zkm trek through peanut fields and buffalo pastures to reach the Rao Nan River. Cross the river and climb a small slope to reach the entrance of Rat Cave.

You will be provided with helmets, headlamps, and safety equipment to explore Rat Cave about 300m long. Rat Cave is one of the most impressive dry caves in the Tu Lan Cave System.

After regaining energy over a picnic lunch, descend a 15-meter ladder with safety harnesses in Hung Ton cave to continue exploring the remaining dry passage of the cave. Opportunity to see a fossil of a million-year-old marine species.

Then move to the water passage of the cave where will be provided with life jackets and start swimming in the underground river of the cave, swimming across a small reef, and at the end of the cave the picturesque To Mo Valley is awaiting.

You will return to the Rao Nan River and walk back through the farmland. Return to Phong Nha ar about 07.00 pm.

1 long (easy to dry) pants and 1 long sleeved shirt to wear during the trek (quick dry)

1 pair of trekking boots/shoes-difficult terrain, good footwear necessary. Gore-Tex/waterproof boots are NOT recommended as they do not drain well (if you prefer your own comfortable pair)

1 backpack (15-20l) to hold personal items

1 change of clothes for after the tour

1 pair of calf length densely woven socks (not ankle socks!)

Personal items: mosquito repellent, sunglasses, hat, camera

Fitness preparation for the Tu Lan Experience tour

The Tu Lan Experience Tour is rated as level 2 (easy) in the 6-level adventure scale of Oxalis Adventure.

The tour is designed for people with a passion for experiencing nature. The trekking adventure scale is based on the physical fitness and health of average active people, not runners or athletes or intensively active people. Anyone can join these one day caving adventures easily if they play some sports and are reasonably active.
