In the 16th century, the ancient town of Hoi An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia and was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999. Hoi An has a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with narrow streets and colorful houses decorated with lacquer panels engraved with Chinese characters. Originally a harbour for the Cham city at My Son, the town became a trading port for Chinese, Japanese and European traders, reaching its peak during the 17th century. The different influences on this riverside town over the centuries have resulted in an eclectic mix of architectural styles, ranging from Chinese assembly halls to grand merchants’ houses to French colonial villas.

Start the day with a leisure walk through the vibrant and lively ancient town. This UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town is ideal for exploring on foot. Discover beautifully preserved merchant houses and the iconic 400-year-old Japanese Bridge.

At 9:30 am and 11:00 am,
Take a stroll to a well-known workshop where your artisan awaits you. Get ready to immerse yourself in painting local folklore masks with a variety of colors under the guidance of the artisan. He has devoted his life to capturing the essence of Tuong singing (a classical Vietnamese opera) through masks that depict different emotions and shades. Gain insight into the challenges and traditions of preserving these crafts across generations. Take home
your DIY masterpiece creation!

At 11:00 am and 11:30 am,
Wrap up the trip with 30-min hands-on making traditional white rose Hoi An dumplings. Laugh and learn how to make the outer cover of each dumpling that looks like a white flower then add the filling of minced shrimp and pork. Then together taste the fruits of your labour. Transfer back to your hotel.
