Today’s cooking class at Y Thao Garden restaurant presents the perfect opportunity to experience its preparation first hand – from visiting the local market to buy the ingredients to cooking and tasting the variety of dishes on offer. The restaurant itself is based in a traditional Hue garden home, maintained by a local family for many generations.

Heading into the throng of Old Hue, the morning begins with a visit to Dong Ba market (for morning class only as it is much more lively and colorful), the largest marketplace in the city. Inside all manner of goods can be found and the market is an excellent place to observe Vietnamese life and learn a little about types of produce on display.
