EXPLORING HA LONG – NINH BINH – MAI CHAU

Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Long

From 7:00 am – 12:30 am

Upon arrival at the jetty, proceed with check-in formalities around noon before being welcome daboard. You will be served lunch while cruising the tranquil waters and will have plenty of time to take in the magnificent seascape of Ha Long Bay.

From 13:00 pm – 17:30 pm

Depending on your cruise itinerary, you will be able to enjoy activities either this afternoon or the following morning to explore caves and grottos, visit pearl farms, or take in picturesque island beaches. Some cruises also include kayaking.

From 18:00 pm

Enjoy a Vietnamese cooking demonstration before enjoying a delicious dinner. At the end of the day set anchor for the night among the karst formations.

Day 2: Ha Long – Ninh Binh

From 7:00 am – 8:30 am

Awaken your senses early this morning with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck or simply relax on board and take in the magnificent surroundings. Breakfast is served (brunch on some boats) while you enjoy cruising back through the bay. Disembark and bid farewell to the friendly crew.

From 9:00 am – 11:30 am

Drive to Ninh Binh. Have rock formations jutting out of the rice paddies, this area is sometimes considered Ha Long Bay on Land. Enjoy lunch in a rustic local restaurant en route and then arrive in Ninh Binh in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Ninh Binh

From 7:30 am – 9:30 am

Transferred to Tam Coc pier for a 2-hour rowing boat trip along the Boi River and enjoy the scenery of Tam Coc grottos, seasonal rice fields, and the life of farmers in the Red River Delta. Due to the huge rock formations jutting out of the rice paddies, the area is sometimes referred to as Ha Long Bay on Land.

From 9:30 am – 11:30 am

Reach Hang Mua – Dancing Cave, which was constructed following the model of the Miniature Great Wall in China with nearly 500 steps up to mountains to conquer. It is a moderate trek with many of its uneven limestone steps at the top point but it is worth your conquering efforts for the impressive panoramic view of Tam Coc and Ninh Binh City when you reach the top point of Ngoa Long mountain. Lunch is obsevered in local restaurant. In afternoon, you can visit the city.

Day 4: Ninh Binh – Mai Chau

From 7:00 am – 10:30 am

Passing through beautiful rural villages and farmlands on the way. Mai Chau is a rural and mountainous region populated by Thai ethnic settled there many years ago. Following a four-hour drive through the beautiful countryside, reach Mai Chau – Stop along the way to visit the Muong tribe and then at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley.

From 11:00 am-12:00 am

Check in your hotel then have an authentic lunch with a local family of the White Thai Tribe and enjoy some free time to acquaint yourself with the villagers.

From 13:00 pm – 16:00 pm

In the afternoon, trek through terraced rice paddies and small villages, discovering the natural beauty of the valley and encountering the culture of the ethnic minority Thai people at Pom Coong and Na Phon villages.

Day 5: Mai Chau – Hanoi

From 7:00 am – 9:30 am

In the morning, you have the opportunity to visit the nearby colorful marketplace where Vietnamese jostle with local ethnic groups over a variety of fresh food produce. Mai Chau is known for its production of colorful embroidery. You will enjoy a walk through the community inspecting the intricacies of this craft and will be able to see the many activities of rural life in this part of the north.

From 10:00 am – 14:00 am

Experience Mai Chau’s relaxed hill tribe life and breath-taking scenery, you can take a short drive through the surrounding countryside before setting off on a trek through rice paddies and down winding lanes to visit the Cum and Sam Khoe villages. Immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture and enjoy an authentic lunch at one of the villages.

From 15:00 am

Following a four-hour drive through the beautiful countryside, return to Hanoi in the afternoon.
