DAY 1: SAI GON – MY THO – BEN TRE – CAN THO
7:30 AM, bus trip to My Tho.
9:30 AM, arrival in My Tho town to visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, built in 1849.
Board a motorboat to reach Unicorn Island. Here, sip a cup of delicious honey and kumquat tea from the bee farm where thousands of bees gather nectar from longan and pomelo blossoms to make honey. Stroll through the tropical fruit gardens.
Afterward, enjoy the melody of “Don Ca Tai Tu,” a genre of traditional folk music that is an essential spiritual and cultural activity in the lives of the people of the Mekong Delta and is officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, while sampling tropical fruits. During this time, you will taste five different types of fruit.
Next, a short boat trip to a small orchard offers a closer look at life in the delta – rowing through a hidden labyrinth of small canals draped in water palms.
You’ll travel upriver to Ben Tre province. On the riverbank, you’ll visit a coconut candy workshop, learn how to make it, and sample the sweet treats. This region is also famous for its coconut candy production. Hop aboard a Lambro motorized tricycle for a special lunch – this was once the iconic vehicle and main mode of transport in southern Vietnam (dating back to the 1960s) – or take an optional horse-drawn cart. Observe the peaceful villages and gain a deeper understanding of the lives of the rural people in the Mekong Delta.
At 12:00 pm, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
At 3:00 pm, return to the motorboat and head back to the pier before your transfer to Can Tho.
5:00 PM – 5:30 PM, check-in at the hotel and overnight stay in Can Tho.
DAY 2: CAN THO – CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET – CA MAU
After breakfast, around 7:15 AM, we board a boat to go to the Cai Rang floating market. This is the largest floating market of its kind in the entire Mekong Delta.
11:45 AM: Lunch in Ca Mau. 12:45 PM: Departure for Nam Can. 2:00 PM: Arrival in Nam Can.
3:15 PM: Arrival at Ca Mau Cape; the end of the country with the forest and the sea. Visit the iconic miniature boat sculpture. Touch the landmark and take photos next to the symbol. Overnight stay.
Dinner in the Nam Can district and return to Ca Mau for the night.
DAY 3: CA MAU – BAC LIEU – SOC TRANG – SAI GON.
Breakfast. Departure for Bac Lieu.On the way, a visit to the church of Tac Say where Father Truong Buu Diep rested.
9:30 AM: Arrival in Bac Lieu, visit to the Bac Lieu House – its owner was Tran Trinh Huy (1900-1974), one of the wealthiest and most flamboyant men in southern Vietnam at the time. When Bac Lieu is mentioned, people immediately think of the homeland of Prince Bac Lieu – a famous actor who played a role for a time.
10:15 AM: We travel to Soc Trang Province, located just south of the Hau River. There is a cultural exchange between the Chinese, Kinh, and Khmer peoples and the indigenous peoples. Soc Trang therefore has unique beliefs and customs.
Upon arrival in Soc Trang, we visit the Mahatup Temple (Bat Pagoda), which was recognized as a national artistic relic in 1999.
Lunch in Soc Trang.
Return to Saigon around 7:00 PM.
