Full description
Discover the authentic culture of the Giay people through trekking, local cooking, and hands-on cultural experiences in the beautiful valleys and rice terraces of Ta Van Village. Below is the detailed itinerary for your 1-day adventure:

8:30 am: Departure to Tả Van Village
Tả Van Village, nestled in the Muong Hoa Valley, is located 8km from the center of Sapa and renowned for its unique terraced rice fields alongside the Muong Hoa Stream. Here, you can participate in making herbal incense, design scarves at the traditional house of the Giay people, and experience the Hmong Batik art. You also have the opportunity to explore cultural heritage sites such as the Ancient Rock Field and Cloud Bridge of Sa Pa.

9:00 am: Cooking Class Experience
Here, you will have the opportunity to learn how to cook local dishes with the indigenous people. For example, cơm lam(bamboo sticky rice), a must-try specialty when visiting Sa Pa. You will start by cutting bamboo tubes to make cơm lam, then preparing ingredients such as sticky rice, magenta leaves, and gac fruit. Under the guidance of the locals, you will not only learn how they create this rustic yet delightful dish but also hear stories about their intelligence and adaptability to their living conditions through this food.
Another experience you can enjoy with your family and friends is joining the process of making the traditional bánh dày(sticky rice cake) of the Giáy people, going through each step yourself while gaining deeper insights into the unique culinary culture of this land.

11:30 am: Enjoy a special lunch at a local family’s home, featuring unique dishes prepared by indigenous chefs.

1:30 pm: Experience Making Traditional Herbal Incense
Preserved, developed, and passed down from generation to generation, today only a few households in the village still know how to make this traditional incense. With the emergence of many industrial incense products, the local people, in an effort to protect and preserve their heritage, have created a 100% natural herbal incense that is both safe and high-quality.
In this experience, you will have the chance to craft your own incense buds under the guidance of Giáy women from Tả Van village. These incense buds not only have a calming effect but are also excellent for repelling mosquitoes and deodorizing. Once completed, you can take home your own handmade incense as a meaningful gift from the locals.

4:00 pm: Return to your accommodation and end of the itinerary.
