1-DAY TREKKING ITINERARY

SAPA – SIN CHAI – JUNGLE – 2,200M – 2,800M – FANSIPAN SUMMIT – SAPA

Start: Sapa center
Destination: Fansipan (3,143m)
Duration: 10 hours (depending on traveler pace)
Level: Hard / Challenging (FULL 25–26 km)


06:00 – Pick up in Sapa

Pick up at your hotel or homestay in Sapa (only in Sapa center). Meet your guide and receive a short briefing:

  • Safety rules
  • Trekking pace and breaks
  • Equipment check

Required gear:

  • Trekking shoes with good grip
  • Water (minimum 1.5L per person)
  • Light backpack
  • Jacket / raincoat
  • Sunscreen

Transfer to Sin Chai village (20–30 minute drive through mountain roads).


06:30 – Arrive at Sin Chai

Stretching and warm-up. Start trekking (~1,200m elevation) along a wide village trail passing:

  • Local houses and farmland
  • Rice terraces
  • Gradual uphill ascent (warm-up stage)

08:30 – Increase elevation & forest edge

Trail becomes narrower.
Light forest begins.
Pace becomes steady and consistent.


09:00 – Enter the jungle

Trek into dense primary forest with:

  • Old trees and mossy landscape
  • Humid atmosphere
  • Roots and rocky, sometimes slippery terrain
  • Moderate to steep uphill sections

Guide controls pace and rest stops.


10:30 – Reach ~2,200m (rest point)

Bathroom break and short rest (~10 minutes). Prepare for the most challenging section (2,200m–2,800m).


11:00 – Continue trekking to higher altitude

Trail becomes steeper and more technical:

  • Less large trees
  • More bamboo and small vegetation
  • Temperature gradually drops

12:00 – Lunch at ~2,800m

Stop at a flat resting area surrounded by forest.

Lunch includes:

  • Bread or rice noodle soup
  • Boiled eggs
  • Fresh fruits
  • Hot tea (if prepared by porter)

Rest time: 30–45 minutes

  • Relax muscles
  • Change wet clothes if needed

12:45 – Final ascent to the summit

  • Bamboo forest and natural stone steps
  • Thinner air, slower pace required
  • Guide provides full support and rhythm control

13:30 – Reach Fansipan Summit (3,143m)

Stand on the highest peak in Indochina and enjoy:

  • Mountain panoramic views
  • Cloud sea (weather dependent)

Activities:

  • Photos at summit marker
  • Short rest and celebration

Stay: 30–45 minutes


14:15 – Descent options

Option 1: Cable car (not included)

  • Walk 20–30 minutes to cable car station
  • Return to Sapa around 15:00

Option 2: Trek down to Tram Ton

  • Easier trail with stone steps and open views
  • Arrival: 17:00–18:00
    ✔ Best for moderate fitness

Option 3: Trek back to Sin Chai

  • Same route back

    ✔ Best for experienced trekkers
